Serving DEI Needs from an Inclusive and Critical Cataloging Perspective: Report of the Cataloging and Classification Research Interest Group Meeting, ALA Core Interest Group Week, March 2023
Abstract
On March 7, 2023, the Cataloging and Classification Research Interest Group (CCRIG) hosted an online program during the ALA Core Interest Group Week. CCRIG’s charge is to serve as a forum for sharing and discussing the latest research projects in the organization and for retrieval of information. For the 2022-2023 term, the group was co-chaired by Cynthia Romanowski from SWAN Library Services and Cindy Tian from the University of Notre Dame Kresge Law Library, and vice-chaired by Patricia Ratkovich from the University of Alabama Libraries. This online program featured three presentations with a theme of inclusive and critical cataloging and classification and how they serve the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) needs of libraries. The program attracted 600 people who pre-registered, with 401 people attending the live session.
