  • Paol0 Carozza was asked to serve as an expert witness before Inter-American Commission on Human Rights Court in the Beatriz et al. v. El Salvador case. The case relates to the alleged violations of the rights of Beatriz and her family due to the prohibition of the voluntary termination of pregnancy in El Salvador, which allegedly prevented her from the possibility of accessing a legal, early and timely termination when dealing with of a situation of alleged risk to life, health and personal integrity; as well as the non-viability of the fetus outside the womb. Paolo testified about the international legal standards that should be applied and how to address the relevance of the principle of human dignity to the case.

  • Mary Ellen O’Connell was one of the ND experts quoted in "The invasion of Iraq: Perspectives on war 20 years later."
  • Nicole Garnett wrote, "As Private-School-Choice Spreads, Implementation Is Imperative" for Education Next.
  • Diane Desierto will present at the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL) Working Group III Academic Forum event, "Investor Accountability" on March 28.
  • The University of Notre Dame Press has published "The Case for Parental Choice: God, Family, and Educational Liberty" by John E. Coons, a leading advocate for parental choice over their children's schooling. Nicole Garnett and Rick Garnett are two of the editors of the book.
  • Religious Liberty Clinic News: Notre Dame Defends Religious Freedom in Oak Flat Oral Argument A group of Western Apaches and a diverse coalition of legal and religious experts, including Stephanie Barclay, urged the government in federal court to protect Native American sacred sites on the same basis as other religious groups. Students from the RLI student cohort assisted with preparation for the argument.
  • Religious Liberty Initiative's book event with Lord Alton was covered by Catholic Herald, "Lord Alton: we need less talk and more action from leaders to stop genocide"

  • 2L Anne Daly helped a women win asylum at the Chicago Immigration Court through the NIJC externship.

  • Judge Edward Leavy ’53 J.D., senior judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, died on March 12 after a remarkable life and legal career. He was 93.
