Join the Lindsay and Matt Moroun Religious Liberty Clinic, the Program on Church, State & Society, and the St. Thomas More Society for a screening of American Martyr: The Stanley Rother Story on Wednesday, October 28.
Narrated by acclaimed actor Martin Sheen, this feature-length documentary tells the extraordinary true story of Blessed Stanley Rother, an Oklahoma-born priest who gave his life in service to the Indigenous Tz’utujil community in Guatemala during the country’s brutal civil war. Despite growing violence and persecution, Father Stan chose to remain with his people, living out his conviction that “the shepherd cannot run.” His courage, sacrificial love, and unwavering faith continue to inspire audiences around the world.
The screening will be followed by a brief Q&A with Maria Scaperlanda, Blessed Stanley Rother’s biographer, and Michael Scaperlanda, chancellor of the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City and producer of the film.
