Ask Me No Questions: The Struggle for Disclosure of Cultural and Genetic Resource Utilization in Design
Professor Margo A. Bagley from Emory University School of Law will discuss her work which brings an international facet to the nexus of race and design protection law in light of the African Group's proposal to allow countries to "require design applicants to disclose the origin of traditional cultural expressions, traditional knowledge, and biological or genetic resources used in creating protectable designs" as part of the draft Design Law Treaty negotiations at the World Intellectual Property Organization.
