Scott G. Stewart, Solicitor General of Mississippi
In 2021, Scott G. Stewart was appointed as Solicitor General for the State of Mississippi. In that role, he is the lead advocate for appellate litigation. He directly handles appeals for the State, oversees the State's appellate litigation and strategy, and facilitates the State's involvement in amicus curiae briefs. Last year, he successfully argued the landmark case of Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization before the U.S. Supreme Court. Prior to serving as Solicitor General of Mississippi, Stewart held senior positions in the United States Department of Justice and worked in private practice as a litigator. He also served as a law clerk to Justice Clarence Thomas of the Supreme Court of the United States and to Judge Diarmuid F. O'Scannlain of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Stewart graduated from Princeton University and Stanford Law School.
