THE ORIGIN OF STORY TIME

During my final year as Assistant Dean of Notre Dame Law School the COVID-19 virus created unexpected challenges for health, safety, education, and students’ career plans. Our community was under stress; it was amplified because one feature that makes Notre Dame so strong – the personal interaction of students, faculty, and staff – was fundamentally disrupted.

I created “Story Time” in an effort to maintain a sense of community while we were physically distant. Everybody loves a good story; when it’s strange but true, the story is even better. The early days of Notre Dame Law are full of page turners.

I wrote a story each week or so during the final weeks of the Spring 2020 semester, and continued writing occasional stories through the following academic year which I posted on the Story Time blog at http://ndlawstories.com. The stories are presented here as they were originally written: sometimes chatty email messages, minus the artwork.
