Abstract

Equity has always had enemies. As Professor Irit Samet notes in her agile and insightful new book, Equity: Conscience Goes to Market, these enemies have lodged two main complaints. One is that equity is not distinctive, and for that reason should be eliminated. The other is that equity is distinctive—and dangerous—and for that reason should be eliminated.
