Abstract
The Western Case for Monogamy Over Polygamy by John Witte
From the Review
The Western Case for Monogamy Over Polygamy is clear, careful and compelling. John Witte’s review of this ‘Case’ is sweeping, and ranges across cultures, continents and centuries. As the book’s opening sentence illustrates, its project has two parts: First, to answer the question ‘[w]hat is the Western tradition’s case for monogamy over polygamy?’, and second, to consider whether ‘that case [is] still convincing in a post-modern and globalizing world.’
