Faculty News and Briefs

  • All-Faculty Team: Sam Bray. Sam Bray was honored as a member of this year's All-Faculty Team and was recognized during last week's home football game for his research on the law of equity and its lasting contributions to the work of courts in the United States.
  • This week, Marcus Cole will speak at the inaugural Hope & Healing Lecture at the Basilica of St. Mary in Minneapolis. The new lecture series is in honor and memory of Rev. David T. Link, former dean of Notre Dame Law School and founding dean of the St. Thomas School of Law.
  • Last week, Bruce Huber was quoted in several news articles about California's lawsuit against ExxonMobil.
  • Sadie Blanchard's article, "Nominal Damages as Vindication," was cited by the Supreme Court of Connecticut and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.
  • Mary Ellen O'Connell was featured in a podcast with The World Today about the UN's investigations of potential war crimes against Lebanon.
  • Lloyd Mayer's article "Charity law & blockchain technology: Using old wineskins for new wine?" was published in The Tax Lawyer, which is the peer-reviewed tax law journal published by the American Bar Association's Section of Taxation.
  • Sherif Girgis's new essay "Originalism's age of Ironies" will be published in a forthcoming edition of the Harvard Law Review Forum.
  • Sam Bray and Paul Miller wrote and edited chapters in a new book, "Interstitial Private Law."
  • Nicole Garnett was mentioned in an article by The Columbus Dispatch highlighting intellectual diversity centers at Ohio's public universities. She is an academic council appointee to the University of Toledo's Institute of American Constitutional Thought and Leadership.
  • Diane Desierto has been named as a fellow at the Center for International Sustainable Development Law.
  • Susan Azyndar wrote "The Limits of Generative AI in Administrative Law Research" for the Yale Journal on Regulation's Notice & Comment blog discussing generative artificial intelligence and administrative law research.
  • Derek Muller was quoted in articles by CNN and AlterNet about legal cases pertaining to mail-in voting.
  • Fr. John Paul Kimes and Carter Snead spoke last week at a conference at Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government. "
